Gratitude from a 10-year-old’s perspective

Chrissy's school artwork was recently displayed at a local coffee shop.
Hope you all had a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving! Today we have a very special guest blogger: my 10-year-old daughter Chrissy. My budding writer did a post on our family blog to reflect on gratitude. I may be biased, but I think she has a lot of wisdom to share. Here’s what she has to say:
I usually don’t post here, but on the day after Thanksgiving, I have to post about being thankful for everything I have.
On Thanksgiving, I spent time with my close family and distant family and both felt like close friends. I’m thankful that I get to spend time with so many great people in my life and how I get along with so many people so well. The food there was delicious as usual. I am thankful for the pleasure of eating good homemade food with the people who make it. I laughed and let go of all of my troubles, and I am very thankful for that.
Aside from Thanksgiving, I have so many things to be thankful for, too. I’m thankful for my great family and friends, continued healing, a roof over my head, and the simple pleasures in life. I could go on and on with everything I’m thankful for.
Everybody needs to make a list of things they are thankful for every once in a while. Write it down on a piece of paper and keep it in a special place. Then, whenever you are feeling like you don’t have enough, look at the list and think of all of the things you are thankful for. Maybe this list could be renewed every Thanksgiving as a new tradition.
Whatever you need, there is always something to be thankful for, so be thankful!
