What do I want from Santa? A cure for cancer.

Shop for a cause during the holidays!
My husband’s family is getting together early for Christmas. We have a tradition of drawing names for gifts and letting everyone know what you want. Now I can be as materialistic as anyone, but I could not think of anything I really wanted or needed.
Then I thought, “What I really want for Christmas (or Christmaskah as it is in our multicultural family) is a cure for cancer. Okay, that won’t fit into our $30 price limit, but it gave me an idea. I went on the Internet and found that most organizations I support have online stores with some pretty cool stuff. And proceeds go toward the organization.
On my list: a pink pedometer from www.ShopKomen.com, which supports the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I figured that would give me some motivation for walking in the cold winter months. The Young Survival Coalition (for young breast cancer survivors) also has a holiday boutique at http://www.youngsurvival.org/en/news-and-events/bcam2009crm/ (hint, hint to my husband!)
But it’s not just for breast cancer. Here are some other cancer organizations that enable you to shop for the cause:
Lance Armstrong Foundation: http://www.store-laf.org/
American Cancer Society: http://www.acsgiftshop.com/
Prostate Cancer Foundation: http://www.prostatecancerfoundation.org/site/apps/ka/ec/category.asp?c=itIWK2OSG&b=1478463&en=dmLPI6OPJcKYLgOSLbKUKiO9KwJ5IeNYLhKYLgMXJiLXJmPeFNational

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: http://www5.cintasvip.com/uniformcatalog/category.asp

Did I leave any out? Let me and other visitors know with a comment. Happy shopping!

I just found another gift shop at Kris Karr’s Crazy, Sexy Life Web site. There’s a lot of vegan and wellness items, as well as some “unusual” items, such as Mood Lube and a F*&!$ Cancer hat.
