Where in the world are you?

Where in the world are you?

It seems like just yesterday when I put out a request for readers so I could break the 1,000-visitors mark. I just checked my stats today, and Miracle Survivors has had more than 4,000 unique visitors come to the site since it began in September.

About half of you come back; the other half just visit one time. The majority of you live in the US and come from every state except Wyoming. Visitors are also in 64 countries worldwide. The top three are Canada, the UK, and Romania. Yes, there is someone from Bucharest who regularly visits this blog. If you’re out there, please leave a comment. We’d love to hear from you!

OK, I always say statistics don’t matter when it comes to a cancer diagnosis. So why am I focusing on these numbers? Because it makes me feel connected to all of you, that’s why! I find it very exciting to think that someone in London, Bucharest or Missoula, Montana is visiting and perhaps getting something from reading this. I feel it is my calling to reach out and help others through my writing. And I know it helps me…probably more than it helps you.

And it’s not just about what I write. Many people have told me they have gotten alot from the comments people leave. I think in a way, it’s a lot like building a community. So here’s my challenge. If you haven’t commented before, here’s your chance. Please tell us a little about yourself, why you visit this site, and the general vicinity where you live.

I’ll put your names in a hat. If I pick your name, you’ll receive a free copy of my book, From Incurable to Incredible, when it is released.

And while you’re at it, please pass this site along to anyone you feel would benefit from it. Let’s see how long it will take to reach the 5,000 mark!

This doesn’t count since I leave notes all the time and I love reading other people’s comments too. I feel connected and heartened for the family members I know who are living with the diagnosis.

I would really love to win this because my best friend/sister in law died 3 years ago from breast cancer – it went to the lungs, lymph nodes, liver and brain. She was 39 and had a 9 year old little boy. I wrote what I think is an awesome poem in her memory. I did not put punctuation at the end because I wanted it to be open ended…I would love to win this in her honor! Thank you for inspiring me!! Thank You!

It took awhile for closeness to ring true
We had issues we had to work through.
We had some rough times – we could be witches,
But also some wonderful – like Trick Pony Tickets.
Hanging by the bus and seeing the band walk past,
Watching the concert and getting the autographs!
We had so many things we were into
Going on adventures and a concert or two.
Jesse James Cave and the Alpine Slide
Kentucky Down Under and that chair lift ride.
We had Panama City Beach and Club LaVela
Driving the strip and remember the fellas.
    Hanging in Gatlinburg and Cherokee,
We saw bears and some scenery.
    We did babies and hikes,
    Football and fights.
Remember how you love Young and the Restless,
How would you feel that Nick is Sharonless?
I have thought of you for hours and in my life made some revisions,
Don’t always know if you would like me now or accept my decisions.
At the beach remember the birds in a line,
We laughed they were line dancing and were sublime.
Trick Pony is no more, Heidi is doing great,
Ira has songs out – you can get them on Myspace.
Coming to see you in just a week or two,
To let you know I still love you

    Hi Tami,
I found your blog after seeing your name in a Pink Ribbon Girl newsletter. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in May 2009, at age 38. When I first began reading about my type of cancer, I was very scared. But I started reading Bernie Siegel’s books, then I started looking for more – I am so glad I have found your blog! I have a much more positive attitude about my future now. Your stories give me hope, and hope is one of the keys to survival! Thank you for sharing with the world.

    Thank you!

Next time I’m in Cinti I hope we can meet (coffee with Nevine?). I would love to PURCHACE a book or 2 or 3 (autographed of course) for our Wellness Community in central NJ. I am one of their “Newcomer” volunteers and hope is what we need plenty of.

    Tami,

My wife has been fighting Stage IV Breast Cancer for almost three years now. By the time you get around to writing volume 2 of your book, my wife will be a great story to consider. We have had a tough 2010 but she is clearly healing and we are optimistic. She had surgery when it was first diagnosed and two bouts of radiation but no chemo as yet. She fights mainly from an alternative or complimentary strategy. If I don’t win your book, I will buy it. We need more books like this. We live in the Philadelphia area – no place exotic.

    Hi Tami,

I am now a 11 year survivor from 7 different types of testicular cancer, I was only 20 when diagnosed, I went thru 2 opperations and was told expect the worst. The hardest thing in life was being told I would never have children, Well being young has its advantages my body fixed itself thou I don’t have any children right now I still would like the chance to someday! I am thankful everyday to the chemo doctor I had who made my recovery possible Dr. Waterhouse in Blue Ash, Ohio. Without him I would have never beaten the cancer. My doctor told me if I changed my eating habits to include berries, garlic, tomatoes but since I could not eat tomatoes, ketup works just as good. But for chemo it was the worst 3 months of my life. The only way i would have any energy to even do the simplest things like walking, I was drinking 2 2 liter bottles of mt.dew. I was lucky I slept thru my treatments since they were all day. The 2nd opperation I almost didn’t make it thru it! But luckly I pulled thru. Congrads to everyone who is winning the battle against cancer.
