Meeting a celebrit…and news on the scan front

I didn't meet Lance, Latrice was in his book!
We just returned from our trip to the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center to get my second opinion on the scan. The verdict for now is that since it was not a big progression, there is room for discrepancies. I guess not all radiologist readings are alike. So I’m going to wait a month and get another scan to make sure.
If it’s not something to do with the reading, it could very well be that the Arimidex is not working anymore. If that’s the case, there is another hormonal treatment I could try with or without a trial drug. The drug, SNDX-275, is being studied to see if it can stop hormonal drug resistance like I might be experiencing.
I feel relieved that there are still options besides chemo available to me. I’ve done well with chemo in the past, but I am glad to be off of it.
Here’s the part about meeting a celeb: Latrice, the research nurse who talked with us about the trial, was Lance Armstrong’s favorite nurse when he went to IU for his treatment! He devoted a whole chapter to her in his fabulous book, It’s Not About the Bike, with her picture and all!
In fact, Lance liked Latrice so much, he flew her out to Paris to ride along in a special car trailing the racers in the Tour d’ France. He also invited Latrice to a party at his house to celebrate his 10-year, cancer-free anniversary a few years ago. We should have taken a picture with her! Oh well; you’ll just have to look for her picture in Lance’s book.
I used the opportunity (as always) to tell Latrice and the docs about my book, which features a foreword by Doug Ulman president and CEO of LIVESTRONG (to which I’m donating 10 percent of my proceeds). I just received another proof of my layout from the publisher, and things are going full steam ahead. I am optimistic it will be out by next month.
That’s my news for the day. Thanks everyone for your prayers and good thoughts. Please keep them coming.

I look forward to your blog every day–it makes me feel like i am still alive and I still have hope. Everyone-pls keep me in your prayers, on Tuesday they are going into to remove a cabbabe ball size mass off my liver–the good news is that it may be a hemotoma–the bad news is that it is the cancer may have returned. Went through many tests and still nothing is conclusive–I think every cancer patient goes through this.
