Doing well after SIRT procedure

Off the table and on with my life

Off the table and on with my life

I had my Selective Internal Radiation Treatment on Thursday, and I’ve been doing pretty well since. This time my procedure was on time and I had it earlier so less fasting and I was home by dinner time.

The weird thing about it is that I’m radioactive now, so I can’t snuggle with Chrissy or my cat for few days. They say I’m supposed to stand a few feet from people even! All in all, I felt a little tiredness and indigestion, but right now I’m feeling great.

Last night my friend Pat came over with some lasagna, and we took a little stroll. I think I’ll do another one tonight. It’s good to move around a bit.

I really like Dr. Ristagno, my interventional radiologist. He told me before the procedure that he doesn’t often think  the procedure is a good idea for people who come without a doctor’s referral. But for me, he thinks it’s a totally good idea. He told me about a recent case of a woman with metastatic breast cancer with a tumor twice my size in her liver. She had the procedure and is now cancer-free.  It was a good thing to hear right before getting on the table.

It made me feel good that I took the steps to research SIRT and go outside the box, even though my oncologists aren’t totally on board with it. I guess now all I need to do is wait and see how these little spheres are working. I’ll be scanned in the next month or so. I’m picturing these thousands of  little guys zapping the tumor and melting it away.

On the book side, I have just made some changes to my second printing. If you have trouble ordering online next week, please contact me and I can send you a book directly (signed and all).

I love it that Dr. Ristagno would share such an encouraging story with you … keep expecting good things from the Lord! Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles!!

    Tami,
I think this SIRT treatment is exactly what I have done a few times and (Theraspheres) I have my 4th treatment scheduled for Sept 30th. I am hoping this is the last one I need. I find the mapping to be harder on my body than the treatment, but they both are not to bad.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and prayers. Yes, Evan SIRT is in the same family as TheraSpheres. For my condition, my doctor thought SIRT was the best. I’m still unsure how they are different.

    Tami,

You are a blessing to me. I’m sure the zappers are working overtime and getting the job done. All my love.
